About the sites

The proposed site: Ahern Ranch

Pacifico is studying parts of the Ahern Ranch north of Marathon, near the Glass Mountains and Highway 67. The Brewster County Appraisal District lists the ranch at about 7,785 acres; Pacifico’s Pecos County model uses 3,000–4,000 acres.

How close is it?

  • About 19 miles from Alpine and from Marathon
  • About 34 miles from Fort Davis
  • About 41 miles from Marfa
  • About 43 miles from McDonald Observatory

Straight-line distances from approximately 30.46°N, 103.35°W.

The model: GW Ranch, Pecos County

Pacifico’s GW Ranch, now owned by Amazon, sits about 55 miles north-northeast of the Brewster site. It is permitted for 7.65 GW and up to 33 million tons of greenhouse gases a year — the project Pacifico pointed to as its model.
